Christmas Week Mass Times

Christmas Schedule and Message

Below is the schedule for Christmas week across the linked parish churches of Chelmsford. For more information about the locations of each mass, please see the latest newsletter for addresses, or the our Parish section of the website.

Dear friends,

As we enter this season of Advent and draw close to Christmas, we greet you with warmth and gratitude. Advent is a gentle teacher. It slows us down. It reminds us that God works quietly, often in the places we overlook. It invites us to wait with trust, to look honestly at our lives, and to make room for the One who comes in humility.

In the rush and noise of December, Advent shines a different kind of light. It is steady rather than dazzling, patient rather than hurried. It points us towards the Christ Child, not with fanfare but with hope. God comes to us in a manger, not a palace, and that alone tells us something profound about the heart of our faith.

Pope Leo has spoken often in these early months about the need for Christians to rediscover simplicity, mercy and courage. He reminds us that the world is aching for signs of goodness that are not loud but consistent. He encourages the Church to be a place where people can breathe again, where burdens are lifted and where nobody is forgotten. Advent fits this call perfectly. It invites us to clear a little space in our hearts and homes so that Christ can draw near.

When Christmas finally arrives, we stand before the mystery of God made small for our sake. The birth of Christ is not just a moment in history. It is God’s promise that He will always seek us out, always come close, always shine light into the shadows. No season carries this truth more tenderly than Christmas.

Our prayer for you and your families is simple. May Advent bring you stillness and hope. May Christmas bring you joy and peace. And may the year ahead be strengthened by the knowledge that Christ walks with you, in every step and every season.

Wishing you a blessed Advent and a joyful Christmas.
