40 Hours Devotion and Patronal Feast in OLI 5th - 8th DECEMBER
The Forty Hours Devotion is an ancient Catholic tradition of prayer in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament, honouring Christ truly present in the Eucharist. During this time, the Church keeps watch in thanksgiving, reparation and intercession for the world, inviting the faithful to draw close to Jesus in stillness and adoration.
At Our Lady Immaculate, we will mark the devotion across several days rather than forty continuous hours, so that as many people as possible can take part.
Schedule:
Friday 5th December – Adoration from 8am to 7pm, followed by Mass at 7.30pm and a final hour of adoration from 8–9pm.
Saturday 6th December – Adoration from 7.30am to 10.30am, Mass at 10.30am, then 11am to 5pm in church, and 5–7pm online, allowing our sick and housebound parishioners to watch and pray with Our Lord.
Sunday 7th December – Adoration from 10am to 12 noon, and again from 1pm to 7pm.
Monday 8th December – Adoration from 9am to 2pm, and 3pm to 7pm, concluding with our Patronal Feast Mass at 7.30pm celebrating the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception. After this Mass there will be an event in the Parish Hall and the Parish Christmas Draw.
Sign-up sheets are available in the parish porchway. We ask that at least two people remain with Our Lord during each hour, though as many as possible are encouraged to come and spend time in prayer.
Come for a few minutes or a few hours, and let this time of stillness prepare your heart for the joy of Christmas.
