Priest Moves September 2025

After three special years and beginning his priesthood here in Chelmsford, Bishop Alan has agreed that the time is right for Fr Damien to begin a new chapter as the new Parish Priest of Our Lady of Good Counsel in Wickford in September 2025. He writes,

"I am so grateful to each of your for making these past years so special for me, I am sure there will be a further opportunity to celebrate this later in the summer, until then please so pray for me and the parishioners of Our Lady of Good Counsel." (Fr Damien)

Some good news - Bishop Alan has appointed Fr Michael Barwick to continue the great work that has begun in Chelmsford over these last years. He will begin his ministry in Chelmsford in September when he leaves Walthamstow parish. Please keep Fr Michael in your prayers along with Bishop Alan at this time.

Fr Martin writes: "I am sure I speak for everyone in thanking Fr Damien for his dedicated, generous service to our parishes, with a good measure of Irish wit and humour! We wish him well on this new step in ministry knowing Wickford's gain is our loss. We will soon have details of how are to celebrate his time amongst us and bid him a heartfelt farewell. In welcoming Fr Michael, I know that for many he is a familiar face in Chelmsford and his many friends here will soon be joined by many more."
